Coffee Table by Brigada

A coffee table is usually a place for temporary storage mostly of newspapers, magazines, books and papers, ending up as a real storage space and a small time capsule of different publications. Having that in mind, Brigada started designing a coffee table that would accomplish the same function in a more efficient way.

The space for newspaper and magazine storage is now the extension of the upper surface, in the adequate grooves, while the lower shelf is lowered to the floor level. By reorganizing functions, magazines are now always easily accessible, their covers more visible, and with the larger number of grooves, they can be practically organized. The basic outer color of the table is black and the inner parts can be personalized according to the user’s wishes.

Scars Are For Ever Furniture by Luca Macrì

table chair scars luca macri

The SCAR furniture line stems from an emotional design project that opens our homes to the surprises that catch us off guard, the mistakes we learn from, the stumbling blocks that proved we are not like everyone else, the need to get back on our feet after falling. Sometimes all that matters is getting back up off the ground. Sometimes, you’ll find, it really is for the best.
Tables, bookcases and benches are cut and sewn back together, always different, always mocking aesthetic perfectionism, always proud of their scars. Every wound leaves a mark that is impossible to hide to others or to ourselves: they remind us of all the mistakes that we have made – we don’t mind admitting them – and that we’ll soon make again.

A intersection B by Kim Myung Hyun

Designer's description:
As the number of single tribe increases, new alternative furniture for the single people is introduced in the living environment. They are active in spending money for themselves, and they prefer the furniture that reflects their taste enough. Moreover, they want the optimized products for efficient utilization of space. Traditionally, the strategy to save the space was to stacking or folding. Differently from that, A intersection B’s approach is to putting another leg into a transparent leg, which provides visual satisfaction and effective utilization of space. A intersection B consists of a black stand, a tea table or a stool, a desk, and a book-box. Those components can be added to each other and also be independent, which creates around 20 combinations with various functions. Such variety is based on the simple system of sharing the legs. Our needs and tastes were reflected in this furniture to make it more incorporated in our life.

Gradient Mashrabiya Sideboard by mischer'traxler

Commissioned by Carwan Gallery, mischer'traxler teamed up with an expert woodworker in Lebanon to redefine the constructive system of the traditional mashrabiyas - delicate wooden window screens often found in the Middle Eastern achritecture.
Inspired by the process of lathing the small wooden parts of mashrabiyas, mischer'traxler focused on exposing the many steps of production, to make the craftsmen's work visible and understandable to the observer. The result - a sideboard table - is composed of a network of more than 650 distinct pieces of manually carved wood. From rectangular slats to refined decorative elements, all stages are visible within the one object, which becomes increasingly more defined, detailed and fragile, but at the same time progressively more three-dimensional.
