Lambent Chair by Glen Lewis Steele

Inspired by a collapsible, wooden, giraffe toy from my childhood, the ‘Lambent Chair’ is designed to shed light where you need it. Be it casting a soft light over a room or directing it down onto the fine text of your novel. A glowing switch placed behind the braid allows for the lamp to work by itself when not being used as a seat. However when you choose to sit on its floating seat, your weight compresses an inbuilt spring loaded mechanism. Activating an internal system of tension wires which tighten and loosen like tendons in a finger, causing the lamp to angle down towards you and then straighten back up when you stand. The New Zealand beech wood and Techflex, silica, braided shaft seemingly dangle from the striking, crescent, LED lamp. All adding to the illusion of an ethereal piece of furniture.

Scars Are For Ever Furniture by Luca Macrì

table chair scars luca macri

The SCAR furniture line stems from an emotional design project that opens our homes to the surprises that catch us off guard, the mistakes we learn from, the stumbling blocks that proved we are not like everyone else, the need to get back on our feet after falling. Sometimes all that matters is getting back up off the ground. Sometimes, you’ll find, it really is for the best.
Tables, bookcases and benches are cut and sewn back together, always different, always mocking aesthetic perfectionism, always proud of their scars. Every wound leaves a mark that is impossible to hide to others or to ourselves: they remind us of all the mistakes that we have made – we don’t mind admitting them – and that we’ll soon make again.

A intersection B by Kim Myung Hyun

Designer's description:
As the number of single tribe increases, new alternative furniture for the single people is introduced in the living environment. They are active in spending money for themselves, and they prefer the furniture that reflects their taste enough. Moreover, they want the optimized products for efficient utilization of space. Traditionally, the strategy to save the space was to stacking or folding. Differently from that, A intersection B’s approach is to putting another leg into a transparent leg, which provides visual satisfaction and effective utilization of space. A intersection B consists of a black stand, a tea table or a stool, a desk, and a book-box. Those components can be added to each other and also be independent, which creates around 20 combinations with various functions. Such variety is based on the simple system of sharing the legs. Our needs and tastes were reflected in this furniture to make it more incorporated in our life.

Abooba Climbing Chair by Jaewook Kim

Abooba means "Piggyback" in Korean.
Dads want to sit down on the chair, to read a book or newspapers comfortably, and to relive his fatigue. Kids want to be hugged, and to go a playground with their dad. I thought about a piece of furniture that the dad can rest up on and the kid can have fun with. For me, the best fun with my dad was riding on his shoulders. Thus, I came up with a space where the dad can sit and take a rest while the kid can have fun riding on something nearby him.
When I was young, Sunday morning, as soon as I woke up, I ran to my dad’s arms. I waited for my dad to get up, but waking up is a tough job for my exhausted old man. I incessantly woke him up to play with him. Without choices, he woke up and sat down on the sofa with rubbing his eyes. At that moment, I got on his neck. Soon he took off the ground, and I was flying over the world.

 - By giving a surface at the leg part, some weights were added for the kids not to fall down backward while they climb up.
- More angles were added for the kids not to fall backward at the top.
- A net supporting the kids to climb up the chair.
- grip for climing and carrying
- it looks like a playground facility

Loungebarrow by Sascha Urban & Dorothea Wirwall

German based duo, Sascha Urban & Dorothea Wirwall have designed 'Loungebarrow', a wheelbarrow that easily transforms into a usable chair. A plywood cover removes in three parts - an upholstered headrest that attaches to the top of the chair, a padded seat and a laptop desk - to expose a cushioned backrest that lines the interior of the ubiquitous garden tool. the upright position is obtained by resting the wheelbarrow on its front handles, providing users with a relaxed posture.

Power Generating iPad Rocking Chair, iRock

iRock developed by Micasa Lab - ZURICH is nothing less than a power generating rocking chair. As long as you rock you charge you iPad or your iPhone. The chair itself is inspired by traditional rocking chairs and it's designed  to resemble the classic, proven designed old rocking chairs.
It has been added to the design  a generator that transforms the movement into power. The iRock it's equipped with an iPad stand and a set of build in speakers in the back rest. The iRock is a product that explores how furniture can interact with technology and actually support the power for this technology. Movement is energy and to collect as much of this energy as possible is one of the future challenges. The laws of physics dictates how movement and friction constantly creates a vast amount of energy that in most cases are lost. iRock is an attempt to collect some of this energy and put it to real use. If you use iRock for 60 minutes you can recharge an iPad 3 to 35%.
